چکیده
BackgroundThe purpose of this study was to evaluate postoperative outcomes with the use bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) conduits in obese patients.MethodsBetween January 2003 and December 2018, 8109 patients underwent isolated coronary bypass grafting, including 7218 (89%) treated single (SIMA) 891 (11%) BIMA grafts. Patients were divided into 3 groups according preoperative body mass index (BMI): normal, BMI <25 kg/m2 (22.2%); overweight, 25 <30 (37.2%); obese, ≥30 (40.6%). In each group, SIMA compared investigate 30-day mortality complications. Significant baseline differences observed between groups, such adjusted by inverse probability weighting matching.ResultsThirty-day mortality, deep sternal wound infection (DSWI) rates, length hospital stay 1.4%, 0.5%, 6.0 ± 9.1 days for normal group; 0.2%, 1.0%, 5.5 4.2 overweight 0.9%, 1.8%, 4.0 group. There no significant difference incidence DSWI, except which rate DSWI significantly higher (3.4% vs 0%; P = .02).ConclusionsBIMA grafts can be used without an increase stay. However, may lead DSWI.

Outcomes of On-pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Patients with Metabolic Syndrome in Mashhad, Iran
Introduction: Metabolic syndrome (MS) is considered as an important risk factor for advanced coronary artery disease. This condition can increase the mortality and morbidity in the patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. The aim of the study was compared mortality and morbidity after off Pump- CABG surgery between patients with and without the Metabolic syndrome. Materi...

in patients requiring coronary artery bypass grafting (cabg), usually at least one of the internal mammary arteries is used. this study evaluates the degree of atherosclerotic involvement of the internal mammary artery (ima) in patients undergoing cabg. during two months period, 79 patients (66 male and 13 female with a medium age of 58 years) undergoing myocardial revascularization had a biops...
متن کاملBilateral internal mammary artery grafting reverses the negative influence of gender on outcomes of coronary artery bypass grafting surgery.
OBJECTIVES Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) has historically demonstrated higher hospital mortality in women compared with men. The influence of gender on long-term outcomes has not been clearly defined. METHODS A retrospective analysis of 4584 consecutive CABG patients was conducted: 3647 men (1761 single internal mammary artery, [SIMA]; 1886 bilateral IMA, [BIMA]) and 937 women (608 S...

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of bilateral internal mammary artery (BIMA) grafts in isolated CABG. METHODS AND RESULTS Beginning in April 1985, elective primary multiple CABG for multivessel disease was performed in 1131 patients. The early and late results of 688 patients who received single internal mammary artery (SIMA) grafts and 443 patients who receive...
متن کاملShould bilateral internal thoracic artery grafting be used in elderly patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting?
BACKGROUND Although bilateral internal thoracic artery grafting is associated with improved survival, the use of this technique in the elderly is controversial because of their increased surgical risk and shorter life expectancy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of age on outcome of patients undergoing bilateral internal thoracic artery grafting. METHODS AND RESULTS Betwee...
